Powerpack in the flesh

One of the things the SCAPE lab is famous for is Powerpack. This is a software hardware solution for fine-grained monitoring the power consumption computers. Rather than just a machines total consumption at the wall you can see how much electricity the hard drive / CPU / memory etc use individually.

A lot has been written about Powerpack but I'm not sure anyone has ever seen what it looks like IRL.

This is the prototype Powerpack node in our test cluster. I think you can see why most people don't want to try this themselves and ask us for help.
