GPU talk

Yesterday I attended an interesting talk on campus. The topic was GPU trends and was given by guys from NVIDIA and Supermicro.

NVIDIA pretty much said that they will bring out a GPU with a built in general purpose CPU (think ARM) which will eliminate the need for an Intel or AMD CPU in a GPU cluster. The CPU is currently needed to marshal data for the GPUs. Some people have already been building clusters with a low power CPU, this takes it to a whole new level.
