Camera up your pole
Today I customized one of our webcams so we could use a DC extension lead to power it and with Emma’s help installed what we hope is a permanent camera up the pole attached to HQ.
I didn't want to run 230 volts (straight from a generator) up the pole so I cut up one of our DC power adapters and added some crocodile clips so we could use a cable carrying 12 volts DC.
With help from Emma we got it lined up to give an overview of the excavation. I put the video server back into HQ so that the camera receiver was as close to the pole as I could get it (for reception).
All the joints on the cables are sealed with electrical tape, the camera itself is weather proof and gravity is being fended off with large quantities of gaffa tape.
This is a rough idea of what the camera is looking at.
